So far I’m a little over a week into my senior year and I already have so many assignments and due dates to worry about. I was hoping with the classes I picked, things would be easier this year but I thought wrong.
My first period class is psychology and we already have a due date set next month for our MT1 project. The only reason I’m so worried is the fact that research projects tend to stress me out and overwhelm me. I managed to work through this last year but I’m frightened that I won’t be able to this time and I’ll just turn in a poorly written essay. My second period class is video editing and I think it’s safe to say it’s the class i’m most excited about this year. Learning how to make and edit videos is something I’ve been really interested in lately and now I’m so glad I have the opportunity to do just that. So far things are going well in that class, in fact we’re gonna learn how to shoot and make our own videos soon and I absolutely can’t wait.
My third period class is Intro to food service and I mainly chose this class because I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and to try something new, this is the only reason I think I’ll find the class challenging. Government is my fourth period class and I also have another research project to worry about in that class which is something I’m not looking forward to. After this comes my English class which, typically, I wouldn’t be stressed out about but I kind of am due to the fact that we’re gonna be working more on finishing our senior project. Therefore, I’ll have to focus more on finishing my exit interview and choosing what college I want to attend, which all sounds daunting at the moment. Finally, my last two classes are Tech advanced and Physics. So far, I’m not too concerned about these classes, as they’re going pretty well, but who knows what will await me further into the school year.
In addition to my new classes, there are a few more things I’m looking forward to this year such as joining new clubs. Unfortunately, I feel like I may be in less clubs this year because there won’t be a French Club nor National French Honors Society due to Mr. Doumbia’s departure. Even so, I still plan on joining new clubs. One that me and my friends have had in mind is the American Sign Language club. This one interests me in particular because I regret not joining it last year. From what I’ve heard, you learn a lot in the club such as learning how to sign, the importance of sign language and how to spread awareness. This is just one club I’ve had in mind but hopefully I’ll consider joining others.
Finally, it looks like I’ve survived the first two weeks of senior year. I gotta say it’s already been pretty difficult so I hope I can make it through the rest. I plan on making this year the most memorable and I think I can easily accomplish that by working hard and trying new things. Hopefully all goes as planned.
