I am now about three months into senior year and already so much has happened. First of all, I can now surely say that I’m starting to get the hang of being a senior. I remember when I wrote my previous entry I felt so clueless on to what this year held for me. Something that worried me the most was knowing what colleges to apply to. I was afraid that if I didn’t figure out where I wanted to go I would be doomed and never be able to pursue higher education. Fortunately, I think I know where I’m going now. I’ve thought about applying to CSU’s but I decided that I wasn’t ready to go straight into a four-year university, so instead I’m planning on applying to a community college nearby. Out of all of them, I think I’ll most likely end up going to COS. This is also where my older brother went after high school so it’s not a bad place to start.
In addition to college applications, I’ve also had to deal with taking the SAT for a second time. I took it on November 7th and it was overall pretty stressful. I’m particularly concerned this time because I didn’t really take any effort to study as vigorously as I did last time. Therefore, I’m not expecting any improvement, unfortunately.
On top of that I’ve also managed to stay on pace on all my classes so far. As I learned last year, going off pace in even one class can be really stressful so I’m trying to not go through that again. It’s been a lot of work, more for some classes than others. I think the class I find the most difficult is physics. At first, I thought the class would be fun and informative. And it really is, but the work can sometimes be confusing because it involves a lot of complex ideas and math. And math is something I’m just not that great at. On the other hand, a class that I think I find the most enjoyable so far is video editing, just I predicted it would be. I’ve made two video projects so far and they were so much fun to make because I was able to take my creativity to a whole new level. What interests me the most though is the editing process. So much in fact that I’ve been considering taking courses in college that relate to film or video production. It’s something I’ve never really considered or thought about before but I feel like it’s something I could do well in, in addition to art.
Finally, I continue to worry about my senior project, so that’s one thing that hasn’t changed. I’ve finished quite a few assignments like my life map and autobiographical narrative, which were both pretty fun to work on. I’ve even started working on my community service hours. I got my first three hours working at a food booth so now I’m eager to find out where else I can volunteer. I’m still kinda worried that I won’t be able to finish all 20 hours before the due date in May. I would hate not to graduate because of something as small as that.
Overall, I feel like I can take on the rest of senior year. There’s still so much to do, especially since the end of the first semester is around the corner.
